Replacing a railing in Ciutat Vella: what to bear in mind
In areas such as El Barri Gòtic and El Raval, railing sections rarely fit whole into a small lift or a narrow stairwell. We order them in pieces that can be carried up by hand and joined on site, and for communal stairs we agree design and working hours with the residents' association.
In areas such as Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera we also restore wrought-iron railings: we strip the rust, weld in or replace missing bars and apply anti-corrosion primer and enamel. If the height falls short, we add a top rail without changing the style.
We measure the drop on the visit and give you a detailed written quote; a site manager coordinates fabrication and fitting, and we leave the area clean. We also work in nearby areas: Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí.

Frequently asked questions
01Railing installation in Ciutat Vella: which areas do you cover?
We do this work in Ciutat Vella, in areas such as El Barri Gòtic, El Raval, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina, La Ribera and La Barceloneta, and also nearby: Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí. Before starting we visit the property and prepare a detailed written quote.
02How high does a railing need to be?
The CTE sets the minimum height according to the drop and limits the gap between balusters so a child's head cannot pass through. At the visit we measure the drop and design the railing to those dimensions.
03Is a glass balustrade safe?
Yes, when it is made with laminated safety glass and properly fixed to the slab. If a pane breaks, the fragments stay bonded to the interlayer.
04Can a balcony railing be replaced without lifting the floor?
It depends on the existing fixings. If the base is sound, we reuse the same points or fix to the edge of the slab; if it is rusted or cracked, we repair it before fitting the new railing.
