Kitchen tiling in Ciutat Vella.
In Ciutat Vella we tile the walls of new or refitted kitchens, with the cuts for sockets, windows and corners worked out before the first tile goes up.

How we tile a kitchen splashback in Ciutat Vella
In 1960s and 70s buildings in areas such as El Barri Gòtic and El Raval it is common to find kitchens tiled floor to ceiling in period tiles. If they are sound, tiling over them avoids breaking out, cuts the rubble carried down the stairs and shortens the noisy part for the neighbours.
In kitchens in areas such as Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera we take care with the edges: trims on external corners, a polished or mitred top edge and clean cuts around windows. When tiling over old tiles we use a specific adhesive and finish the exposed edge neatly.
We come to see the kitchen, check the existing tiles and help you choose format and colour; you then receive a detailed written quote, and at the end we leave the worktop and units clean. We also tile kitchens in nearby areas: Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí.

Frequently asked questions
01Kitchen tiling in Ciutat Vella: which areas do you cover?
We do this work in Ciutat Vella, in areas such as El Barri Gòtic, El Raval, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina, La Ribera and La Barceloneta, and also nearby: Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí. Before starting we visit the property and prepare a detailed written quote.
02Should the old tiles come off, or can you tile over them?
If the existing tiles are firm and flat, we can tile over them with a suitable adhesive. If they sound hollow or there is damp, we remove them so the problem is not carried over.
03Do the units have to come out for tiling?
Not for the splashback: we work with the units in place and protected. For full walls, it is better to tile before the kitchen is fitted.
04Which grout is easiest to keep clean?
Narrow joints with epoxy or high-performance grout repel grease and don't darken. We recommend them especially behind the hob and sink.
