When is it time to retile the kitchen?

  • Loose or hollow-sounding tiles
  • Dark grout that won't come clean
  • Old tiles that clash with the room
  • New units that need a new splashback

What kitchen tiling includes

  • Surface preparation

We hack off or level the wall so the tiles sit flat and bond properly.

  • Wet zone protected

Next to the sink we apply a waterproofing layer before tiling.

  • Tile setting-out

We plan the layout to avoid thin cuts at corners and edges.

  • Clean cuts

Neat cut-outs around sockets, switches and pipes with no visible chips.

  • Trims and grout

Edge trims on external corners and grout that resists grease and moisture.

  • Range of formats

Metro tiles, large format, thin porcelain or mosaic.

From old tiles to a clean splashback

In areas such as Centre and Can Magarola, where winters are cold, closed kitchens get a lot of condensation on outside walls and the grout ends up mouldy. We recommend tiling those walls in full with mould-resistant grout and checking the cooker hood outlet.

Behind the hob, in kitchens in areas such as Alella Parc, Can Sorts and Nova Alella, we recommend narrow joints with epoxy or high-performance grout, which does not absorb grease and wipes clean with a cloth. With thin porcelain or large-format tiles we keep the number of joints to a minimum.

After the visit you get an itemised quote separating removal, preparation and tiling; if units are being fitted, the site manager coordinates both jobs. We also work nearby: El Masnou, Teià and Tiana.

Frequently asked questions

01

Kitchen tiling in Alella: which areas do you cover?

We work in Alella in areas such as Centre, Can Magarola, Alella Parc, Can Sorts, Nova Alella and El Solell, and also nearby: El Masnou, Teià and Tiana.

02

Should the old tiles come off, or can you tile over them?

If the existing tiles are firm and flat, we can tile over them with a suitable adhesive. If they sound hollow or there is damp, we remove them so the problem is not carried over.

03

Do the units have to come out for tiling?

Not for the splashback: we work with the units in place and protected. For full walls, it is better to tile before the kitchen is fitted.

04

Which grout is easiest to keep clean?

Narrow joints with epoxy or high-performance grout repel grease and don't darken. We recommend them especially behind the hob and sink.
