Bathroom with a shower tray and black-framed screen

Bathroom tiling in Alella.

We tile your bathroom in Alella on a flat surface and from a planned setting-out, so grout lines meet and cut pieces sit where nobody notices them.

When does the tiling need redoing?

  • Cracked or hollow-sounding tiles
  • Black, mouldy grout
  • Tiles that are decades old
  • Uneven or out-of-true walls

What the bathroom tiling includes

  • Surface prepared

We hack off old tiles or level the wall before setting the new ones.

  • Setting out

We plan the layout so cut pieces end up where they are least noticeable.

  • Shower area protected

We waterproof the wet zone before any tiles go on.

  • From mosaic to large format

Large porcelain, metro, hexagonal or mosaic on walls and floor.

  • Trims and edges

Corners, niches and floor junctions finished with trims or mitred edges.

  • Grout and sealing

Mould-resistant grout and silicone where tiles meet the tray and fittings.

Tile by tile: how we work

In areas such as Centre and Can Magarola, where winters are cold, a tiled floor feels chilly underfoot and unheated bathrooms suffer from condensation. We suggest an electric heating mat under the floor tiles and tiling to the ceiling on the walls where most steam collects.

In the shower area of bathrooms in areas such as Alella Parc, Can Sorts and Nova Alella we waterproof with a liquid membrane or sheet, with tape at the corners and around taps and drain. Niches are lined with the same tiles and given a slight fall so they do not hold water.

After the visit we send an itemised quote, with removal, preparation and tiling listed separately; a site manager coordinates the tiler and the plumber. We also work nearby: El Masnou, Teià and Tiana.

Frequently asked questions

01

Bathroom tiling in Alella: which areas do you cover?

We work in Alella in areas such as Centre, Can Magarola, Alella Parc, Can Sorts, Nova Alella and El Solell, and also nearby: El Masnou, Teià and Tiana.

02

Can new tiles go over the old ones?

Sometimes, if the old tiles are firmly bonded and flat, using an adhesive for tile-on-tile. Bear in mind you lose a little space and the edges around doors and windows change.

03

Do large-format tiles work in a small bathroom?

Yes, and they often help: fewer grout lines make the room feel bigger. They just need very flat walls and careful setting out of the cuts.
